Family reunification

Family reunification refers to the entry into and residence in a Member State by family members of a third country national residing lawfully in that Member State. Family reunification aims at preserving the family unit, whether the family relationship arose before or after the resident's entry.

Family tracing

Family tracing refers to the search for family members, including relatives or former caregivers of unaccompanied children, with the purpose of restoring family links and family reunification where this is in the best interests of the child.^{^[1]}
